We pay tribute to Stanley Peiris, a musician of great talents who contributed to the Sri Lankan music scene immensely. Weerasinghe Arachchilage Edward Stanley Peiris was born in Kandy and schooled at St. Anthony's College, Kandy. He died at the age of 61 years on October 13th, 2002. A great saxophonist, Stanley, had worked for Sri Lanka Navy and learned music at the Kandy MGC Institute. Stanley had provided back-ground music for most favorite Sri Lankan singers and made them popular. He has composed music for more than 700 cassettes and scores for 4000 odd songs. He was the leader and the founder of music group "Fortunes".

His music compositions include favorites such as: Lata Walpola's Punsanda Eliyai, Milton Mallawarachchi's Amaran Hengum, Clarence Wijewardhana's Duwa Maa Wage, Grecian Ananda's Tharu Yaye, and Nirosha Virajini's Sigiri Geeyak. In 1981 he composed music for his maiden film Saranga. He also provided back-ground music for Soora Saradiel and Baisikalaya.
